Building a Rainforest Diorama

Lexi made a RAINFOREST DIORAMA this weekend for a class project. (6th grade).

Ok...this is how we made it!
We started with tin foil, molding it to look like trees and a base, finally a pond.

Once it appeared it might hold, we got out the ole plaster paris. What a mess! First it was too wet, then too dry. It took forever to hold. Finally, some type of success, looking like it might work. We let it dry overnight.
The next morning we started painting! We used greens, browns and blues, acrylic of course. While that dried we made rainforest creatures out of dry clay. That was fun! I got to make the lil leopard while Lexi made the snakes. Finally came a disfunctional monkey and a scary alligator. We used browns, greens and blues, painting the trees, shrubbery and water.

Finally we could put together the whole thing with detail work: stickers, twigs and vines as well as a celophane waterfall!

She received an A+ of course!
